Here are just some of the questions Suited and Booted are asked regularly. We hope that we have covered every eventuality. If not, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
How long does the band normally play for?
Normally from 8pm till 12 midnight, with a break around half way through the proceedings. We are prepared to play up to thirty minutes extra, free of charge, if the occasion demands it. Most bands charge for this.
How long is your break?
Our break is thirty minutes, usually to be taken at the same time as the buffet. We are able, if you wish, to provide CD's/background music at this time for your guests through our PA. This would be at low volume to allow for the guests to talk.
What if someone in the band is unable to play at our event?
We have never had to solve this problem, but in the unlikely event that a band member is unable to play, we have high-quality deputy musicians who are able to step in at the last minute.
How long does it take you to set up?
We like to arrive generally about ninety minutes before we are due to start playing so that we can set up as soon as the venue is ready for us. It takes, typically, about 60 minutes to set up, depending of course on how easy access is etc. Also, we are able to set up earlier in the day if required due to room set-ups and so on.
Where is the band based? Are you able to travel for our wedding/event?
Every band member lives in Fife but we are willing and able to travel further afield and have done so on numerous occasions! This would, naturally, incur some travelling costs.
Do we need to sign a contract?
Yes! This makes clear what you should expect from us, and also, in black and white, vital details we all need to know, such as venue, date, contact details and so on.
How do we pay the band?
At the time you book Suited and Booted, you return your signed contract to us, together with a £150 deposit in cash or by bank transfer to secure your event. The balance of the agreed contract price is payable in cash or bank transfer at least fourteen days in advance of the wedding/event. If it makes it easier for you we can accept payment in instalments providing the full amount is paid before the day of the event.
What kind of music do you play?
Suited and Booted’s songlist is both huge and varied. The list includes everything from rock’n’roll from the 1950s, pop/rock from the 60s up to the latest chart hits and classics from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Every audience is different and we will gauge what is required. You can check out our vast repertoire of songs on the website.
Will you learn a special song for our first dance?
Of course! Simply let us know what the song is in plenty of time, and we will prepare it for you.
Do you have your own lights and sound equipment?
Yes- we have a good collection of stage lighting and we also have a fantastic sound system.
Can I keep in touch with the band as the event approaches?
Yes, of course, we actually encourage you to keep in contact with us from the minute you confirm your booking right up to your special day. Simply get in touch by emailing us, or using one of the phone numbers on the website.
Do you play at same-sex receptions/ events?
Of course- why would we not?!
Do you Have Public Liability Insurance as well as a PAT Certificate for your equipment?
Yes, we have public liability insurance up to £10,000,000 and all of our equipment has been PAT tested. Copies of both are available if required.
Will I also need a DJ?
No, not unless you really want to! Most clients find that they do not need the expense of hiring a DJ in addition to the band! We are more than happy to play a selection of recorded music during the times we are not performing.
Can you play outside?
Yes - As long as the band and our equipment are adequately protected from the elements and it is safe to do so.
My venue has a Sound Limiter. Does this present a problem?
If this is the case then please contact us in advance so that we can make any necessary adjustments.
Does Suited and Booted use backing tracks?
No - We are a fully live band at all times. Everything you hear is generated in the moment by the musicians on stage.
Can you play a ceilidh section during the evening?
Suited and Booted have a range of ceilidh songs in our repertoire but find that just a few over the course of your evening is normally all that is required. We can also call the dances if required by your guests. Please let us know at the time of booking if you require a ceilidh section.
How much floor space does the band require?
As you can imagine there is a practical limit as to how much room a full drum kit, keyboards, guitars, speakers, mic stands and five people can be fitted into! Please let us know if you also intend to book a DJ or another performer so that we can ensure that there will be enough rooms to fit us all in.
Does the band require a stage to perform on?
While the band prefers a raised stage, it is not a necessary requirement.
Does the band require a room to get changed in?
Yes, any reasonable space with privacy would be ideal.
